Nelson's Monument in Great Yarmouth (also known as the Norfolk Pillar) was erected in 1819 and predates the famous London landmark by some 24 years. In 2012, it will be open to the public every Sunday from 27 May to 26 August.

Visitors can climb the 217 steps in the company of a trained guide for wonderful views and bracing North Sea air.
